Professeur Mark Wilcox de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 et du Centre hospitalier universitaire de Leeds, a \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9e en France, en Italie et au Royaume-Uni. Son objectif&nbsp;: examiner l\u2019\u00e9tendue de la contamination environnementale par des pathog\u00e8nes bact\u00e9riens potentiels dans des sanitaires hospitaliers, en fonction des m\u00e9thodes de s\u00e9chage des mains utilis\u00e9es. Des bact\u00e9ries antibior\u00e9sistantes \u2013 <strong>dont des SARM et des ent\u00e9rocoques r\u00e9sistants aux b\u00eata-lactamases \u00e0 spectre \u00e9largi<\/strong> \u2013 ont ainsi \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9tect\u00e9es en plus grandes concentrations dans les sanitaires dot\u00e9s de s\u00e8che-mains \u00e0 air puls\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab&nbsp;<em>Ces conclusions vont avoir d\u2019importantes implications quant au choix de la m\u00e9thode de s\u00e9chage des mains dans les \u00e9tablissements hospitaliers<\/em>, <em>et devraient particuli\u00e8rement interpeler les m\u00e9decins et infirmiers en charge de la pr\u00e9vention et du contr\u00f4le des infections, les directeurs de l\u2019approvisionnement et tous les responsables attach\u00e9s \u00e0 la minimisation des infections crois\u00e9es,<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb a confi\u00e9 le Professeur Wilcox.<em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Le plan de l\u2019\u00e9tude a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7u et ex\u00e9cut\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re ind\u00e9pendante par des chercheurs scientifiques au sein de trois \u00e9tablissements diff\u00e9rents&nbsp;: le Professeur Wilcox du service d\u2019infirmerie g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de Leeds (Centre hospitalier universitaire de Leeds), Royaume-Uni&nbsp;; le Professeur Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Barbut du service de contr\u00f4le des infections de l\u2019h\u00f4pital Saint-Antoine (AP-HP), Paris, France&nbsp;; et le Professeur Silvio Brusaferro du service de m\u00e9decine du centre hospitalier universitaire d\u2019Udine, Italie.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9tude a compar\u00e9 deux sanitaires par \u00e9tablissement&nbsp;: l\u2019un \u00e9quip\u00e9 d\u2019essuie-mains en papier et l\u2019autre, de s\u00e8che-mains \u00e0 air puls\u00e9. Pour les besoins de l\u2019\u00e9tude, une seule m\u00e9thode de s\u00e9chage des mains \u00e9tait disponible dans chaque sanitaire.&nbsp; Ces sanitaires \u00e9taient fr\u00e9quent\u00e9s \u00e0 la fois par le personnel hospitalier, les patients et les visiteurs.&nbsp; Un plan crois\u00e9 a ensuite compar\u00e9 les niveaux de contamination dans chacun d\u2019eux, sur une p\u00e9riode de 12&nbsp;semaines. Durant l\u2019\u00e9tude, 120&nbsp;sessions d\u2019\u00e9chantillonnage ont \u00e9t\u00e9 totalis\u00e9es dans chacun des trois \u00e9tablissements. Cette \u00e9tude ind\u00e9pendante a \u00e9t\u00e9 conduite en 2017 et a fait l\u2019objet d\u2019une subvention de l\u2019<a href=\"http:\/\/europeantissue.com\/\">ETS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Pr\u00e9sence de microorganismes r\u00e9sistants aux antimicrobiens<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>L\u2019\u00e9tude a mis en \u00e9vidence la pr\u00e9sence des bact\u00e9ries suivantes&nbsp;: <em>Staphylococcus aureus<\/em> sensibles et r\u00e9sistants \u00e0 la m\u00e9ticilline (respectivement, SASM et SARM), ent\u00e9rocoques et ent\u00e9robact\u00e9ries, dont des bact\u00e9ries productrices de b\u00eata-lactamases \u00e0 spectre \u00e9largi.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Principales conclusions<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>De mani\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 constat\u00e9 que la contamination bact\u00e9rienne \u00e9tait moindre dans les sanitaires utilisant des essuie-mains en papier comparativement \u00e0 ceux \u00e9quip\u00e9s de s\u00e8che-mains \u00e0 air puls\u00e9. Par ailleurs, sur les trois sites, les chercheurs ont d\u00e9tect\u00e9 des taux de d\u00e9tection bact\u00e9rienne significativement plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s sur la surface externe des s\u00e8che-mains \u00e0 air puls\u00e9 par rapport aux essuie-mains en papier (valeur m\u00e9diane&nbsp;: 100-300 versus 0-10&nbsp;unit\u00e9s formant colonies (UFC) respectivement&nbsp;; p&nbsp;&lt;&nbsp;0,0001 pour tous).&nbsp; Si l\u2019\u00e9tude a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 des niveaux de contamination similaires en France et Royaume-Uni, elle a en revanche mis en \u00e9vidence des taux notablement plus bas dans les sanitaires italiens. Ce r\u00e9sultat s\u2019expliquerait par une plus faible fr\u00e9quentation et des pratiques de nettoyage diff\u00e9rentes.<\/p>\n<p>Les trois sites ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 des diff\u00e9rences.
